Program description:
The aim of this course is to give students and participants an idea of psychological counseling of children and teenagers as a part of psychological and psychotherapeutic practice, where the child as a specific type of a customer is the object of attention, study and help.
Program of the course is aimed at familiarizing participants with various "typical children's problems" and possibilities to overcome them in the process of psychological counseling and therapy for the child and accompanying counseling of his or her parents. Also provided is familiarization with separate procedures and work techniques included in various psychotherapeutic approaches through one's own experience.
During the training, participants will learn about:
  •  the difference between a child as a customer and an adult as a customer;
  • typical psychological difficulties and problems emerging in children at different stages of growing up;
  • the therapeutic role of games in the child's life and in the process of psychological counseling and psychotherapy;
  • what exactly does the therapeutic sandbox do and how does it help the customer (child) and the psychologist;
  • procedures of body-oriented therapy, elements of fairy tale therapy, simple and original art methods that can be used in working with children of various age groups;
  • when and how it is recommended to counsel parents of the child (customer).

  • educational psychologists, social counselors, social work specialists working with children in various educational, treatment and social institutions; senior students studying psychology and interested in psychological counseling of children and teenagers.
